Hugo Sanchez Anna, February 25, 2013 Hugo Sanchez is a Latin American artist, currently residing in Costa Rica. He started his career as a teacher in teaching courses UACA and taught specific kinds of art; still life, portraiture and landscape painting. He has earned himself great respect and recognition in the field of art and has been awarded countless times for his masterpieces; In 1972 he was awarded the first prize for an oil painting by the department of arts and letters and the ministry of interior. In 1978 one of his watercolor paintings was put up in the Costa Rican art museum. In 1982 he was honorably mentioned in the competition of Chinese culture when he painted a still life in watercolors. Similarly he was awarded twice in 1979, thrice in 1982, then in 1985 and again twice in 1994. He won two gold medals and a silver medal for his watercolor paintings. In 2006 he was honorably invited by the West Chester University in USA to exhibit his paintings at the festival of Latin American art. In 1984 he opened up his personal paint studio and shop. His work is so miraculous that he has been called to exhibit his paintings in over 350 exhibitions and he has done about 9 solo exhibitions in Costa Rica and USA and he is also said to be a founding member of the Costa Rican Association of Watercolors (ASCA). Hugo has divided his art in different themes for example interiors, watercolors, mix craft, which is the use of charcoal as well as oil and colored paint, oil on canvas, where he makes different textures on canvas, oil on acrylic, which is paint on cardboard, and landscape paintings. He has his own workshop of watercolor painting which is conducted annually usually in December, he has also set up his own gallery in the same building as of the workshop and there he exhibits and sells his paintings. His paintings are also sold in giclee prints, made at special orders.
