Lush greenery and foliage are among the greatest\u00a0conservation’s\u00a0of Costa Rica and the administration pays due attention in keeping plants healthy and maintained across the country. Due to such keen preservation efforts, twenty five percent of the Costa Rican land is sheltered and has led to nurturing of 28 national parks. This remarkable achievement calls for a celebration and thus, the country revels a day just for it parks called the National Park Day. Celebrated every August 24th<\/sup>, the day appreciates the beauty that surrounds the people of Costa Rica and recognizes all the hard work that has made it possible.<\/p>\n

A National Park in Costa Rica defines \u201ca protected area that has been legally declared a National Treasure in order to protect and conserve the biodiversity it contains.\u201d Here it has been classified into National Parks, biological reserves, natural reserves, national monuments, protected zones, forest reserves, wildlife refuges, wetlands and native territories. These protected areas are presentations of a variety of eco systems. They are major source of attraction for the national and international tourists and also education centers for scientists. These wonderful movements for protection of land in Costa Rica have resulted in the protection of five percent of the world\u2019s biodiversity.<\/p>\n

The famous National Parks of Costa Rica include Santa Rosa National Park, La Cangreja National Park, Isla del Coco National Park, Rinc\u00f3n de la Vieja National Park, Turrialba Volcano National Park and Po\u00e1s Volcano National Park to name a few.<\/p>\n

National parks in Costa Rica not only have played a vital role in boosting economy for the country but they have also become a substitute source of entertainment. The lovely green and the assortment of species and landscapes in these areas are a treat for the soul and oxygen to mind. The parks in Costa Rica consists of a variety of plant, insect and bird species. To no one\u2019s surprise three of the parks have been avowed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Among these is the National Park: Isla del Coco. This park has been incorporated in list of \u2018Wetlands of International Importance\u2019 and 7 Wonders of the World Organization has nominated it for the \u20187 New Wonders of the World\u2019.<\/p>\n

On National Park Day in Costa Rica many activities go around the country and as expected the day is celebrated in the best fashion. The country is lined and decorated by national flags and special blue flags that represent ecologically prized sites humbly. Educational trips are arranged for students of schools to visit the parks and learn about the natural resources of Costa Rica. Tree plantation proceedings are conducted by various hotels of the country encouraging the population to plant as many trees they can. The restaurants and food joints participate actively by creating mouthwatering cuisines that highlight the celebrated day, and centers on the maximum use of greens and natural ingredients of the region.<\/p>\n

Like countless festivals that celebrate beauty, culture and traditions in Costa Rica all year round, the National Park Day stresses on the importance of natural beauty and its preservation. Attending this festival not only provides an entertaining day spend but also advises on showing responsibility and caring for the natural resources that surround us.<\/p>\n
