Rodolfo Stanley Anna, February 25, 2013 Rodolfo Stanley, the renowned master of erotic art, started his career as an assistant in the art department of an advertising agency. Two years later he became the head of that department and as young as he was, at the age of 27, set up his own studio for advertising and designing. Through advertising, he felt that he wanted to study the art of painting in detail and after accomplishing that task he participated in an art competition and won $3,500. With that money he travelled to art galleries all over the world, including the art galleries and museums of New York, Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. After coming back from the tour, he took up painting as a part time profession and continued with advertising as well. Rodolfo has done many solo exhibitions of his paintings, worked in group shows as well and since 1974 has been winning awards and honorable recognition all over the world. He has given a name to each one of his paintings, like other artists he does not paint anything from his surroundings or from his imagination, he takes his inspiration from what is out in the real world. When he went on a tour of the art galleries and museums, he saw what every society was, despite all the hardships and trials, happy and lively and love that kept them united. Each one of his paintings, set in different themes, and having a name of its own, has a story of itself to tell and a beautiful message that soothes the heart and cheers the mood. In his album “The Night” he has put up paintings of scenes from bars and clubs in the night, what he seed is very different from what any person would see when he enters a night bar. He has projected local dances in ballrooms and in a certain diplomatic manner has also tried to show how the world id decaying. The paintings in the category of “Local Dance” show how the people of Latin America pour out their romantic and erotic feelings when they come to bars and clubs. “Parks” includes paintings of scenes that only exist in the imagination of Rodolfo Stanley. There are pictures of magic parks, afternoon parks, sunset in parks, skating in parks and many more, all having their individual names and entirely based on fantasy. His most interesting work is under the category of beaches where he shows the combination of rich and poor enjoying on beaches which is actually what’s happening in the new Costa Rica. The paintings that show the lower class are named as “underdogs in paradise” and for the rich ones it’s “Up In Heaven”. The paintings in special topics include paintings of grandmothers, free driving classes, jazz dances and many more that people can’t even think of.
